PPSM is sponsoring a Perinatal Mental Health Training for community professionals and interested volunteers. This training will help you to better understand perinatal mental health complications including antenatal/postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD and psychosis. The training will cover risk factors, symptoms and interventions. It is ideal for mental health professionals, childbirth educators and birth professionals such as doulas, OB/GYNs and Midwives.
Topics include: Introduction to PPSM, Perinatal Mood Disorders, PMAD’s and Partners, Perinatal Loss, Suicide/Infanticide, Therapeutic Interventions, Local Resources, Psychiatric Medications in Pregnancy, Genetic Influences, Hormone Influences and Psychiatric Medications in Lactation.
This portion of the training is scheduled from 8:00 am- 4:30 pm. 6.75 CME’s are available and the fee is $150.00
Those who wish to become PPSM volunteers will complete an additional 1 hour of training from 4:30-5:30. This training is required for those interested in becoming a PPSM volunteer. Opportunities include working on the Helpline as a Peer Support Volunteer or Mental Health Professional, and general Volunteers who support the Steering committee in promotional, fundraising and advocacy. Volunteers are asked to give a one year commitment. Those who wish to attend for the purposes of volunteering will have a reduced rate fee of $75.00
Water, coffee and bagels are provided during morning registration. Lunch will also be provided. Please note any food allergies, sensitivities or restrictions in the comments when registering.
