PPSM is sponsoring a Perintal Mental Health Training for community members, professionals and interested volunteers. This training will help you to better understand perinatal mental health complications including antenatal/postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD and psychosis. The training will cover risk factors, symptoms and interventions. It is ideal for any person who comes into contact with pregnant/postpartum families including mental health professionals, public health and clinic nurses, childbirth educators and birth professionals such as doulas, integrative providers such as chiropractors, acupuncturists, occupational/physical therapists, and wholistic/naturopathic doctors. The Community portion of the training is scheduled from 9:00 am- 1:00 pm. 4 CEU’s are available. The fee is $75.00 however scholarships are available. Trainings are offered twice yearly.
The entire training is required for those interested in becoming PPSM volunteers. The Volunteer portion of the training will follow the Perinatal Mental Health Training from 2:00 pm-3:00pm. PPSM volunteer opportunities include working on the Helpline as a Peer Support Volunteer or Mental Health Professional, and general Volunteers who support the Steering committee in promotional, fundraising and advocacy. Volunteers are asked to give a one year commitment. Those who wish to attend for the purposes of volunteering may apply to have their fee refunded after attending two volunteer events.
