PPSM is sponsoring a Maternal Mental Health Training for community professionals and interested volunteers. This training will help you to better understand maternal mental health complications including antenatal/postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD and psychosis. The training will cover risk factors, symptoms and interventions. It is ideal for mental health professionals, childbirth educators and birth professionals such as doulas, OB/GYNs and Midwives. This portion of the training is scheduled from 9:00 am- 2:00 pm. 4 CEU’s are available. The fee is $75.00 however no interested person will be turned away. Trainings are offered twice yearly. The next training is February 18, 2017 at the Center for Grief, Loss & Transition in St Paul.
This training is required for those interested in becoming PPSM Helpline volunteers, including peer support and Helpline MHP Facilitators. The Helpline Training will follow the Maternal Mental Health Training from 2:00 pm-4:00pm. PPSM volunteer opportunities include working on the Helpline as a Peer Support Volunteer or Mental Health Professional, and general Volunteers who support the Steering committee in promotional, fundraising and advocacy. Volunteers are asked to give a one year commitment. Those who wish to attend for the purposes of volunteering may apply to have their fee refunded after attending two volunteer events.
Water, coffee and bagels are provided during morning registration. Parking is limited, please plan accordingly. There is a small lot in the back of the building and on-street parking on Dunlap. Lunch is on your own.
